ACU Debating Challenge Cup

Congratulations to Year 7 students Marshall Ubongen, Success Dahal and Elijah Corden who won their debate in the Grand Final of the ACU Debating Challenge Cup on Tuesday night.

St Patrick’s (Negative Team) debated against a very strong Loreto (Affirmative Team) on the topic: Fast food is a necessary evil in the modern world. In a very close debate, the boys spoke with confidence, demonstrating strong arguments and rebuttals that ultimately secured them the win over Loreto. 

This is the first time St Patrick’s College has won the Year 7/8 Section of the South Street Debating Competition since the competition began in 1998. 

A special thank you goes out to Archer Mohr in Year 12, who has been an outstanding Debating Captain and supporter of all the debating teams. He has attended many lunchtime meetings to coach and mentor the boys.

U16 Impromptu and Prepared Speech 

Congratulations to Year 9 student Xxavier Ballinger who enjoyed great success at the Royal South Street Society Ballarat Eisteddfod this week. Xxavier won the ACU Speech prize U16 for highest combined scores, the U16 Impromptu speech and came second in the U16 Prepared Speech. Well done, Xxavier! 

Grease

The cast of Grease welcomes students from Damascus, Loreto and Clarendon College. 

Students have been working tirelessly with St Patrick's students as they rehearse for SPC's November production of Grease. Every rehearsal has been filled with hard work, excitement and action. Students can't wait to take to the stage in November!
