Principal Team Message

Hello BRPS Community,

It’s hard to believe we are already heading towards the final few weeks of Term 3! It has been another incredibly busy and positive term at BRPS, with so much happening both inside and outside the classroom. It has been great to see our students continuing to approach their learning with enthusiasm, while also making the most of the many sporting, creative, leadership and community opportunities available across the school.

As we head towards the term break, our focus remains firmly on making every school day count. There is still plenty of important learning to be done, alongside some exciting events and activities to look forward to. Thank you, as always, to our wonderful staff for the energy and care they bring to their work each day, and to our families for your ongoing support of our school. I look forward to a strong and enjoyable finish to Term 3!

Planning for 2027 – Enrolment Information

Planning is well underway for the 2027 school year. Having an accurate understanding of the number of students who will be attending BRPS at each year level is essential as we plan our class structures, staffing and learning programs for next year.

To help with our  planning, we ask that you please take a moment to complete the online form by Wednesday 16th September (final week of Term 3, 2026).

Information about 2027 class structures and the class placement policy will be provided to parents and carers as early as possible in Term 3.

2026 Parent, Caregiver and Guardian Opinion Survey

The 2026 Parent, Caregiver and Guardian Opinion Survey will be emailed to all families on Monday 7th September 2026, and will be open for completion online until Friday, 18 September 2026.

The survey invites feedback on:

• School climate
• Community engagement in learning
• Teaching practices for student engagement and outcomes

• Attitudes towards school attendance

   

Your opinions are important to us. They will help identify areas for improvement, inform professional development needs, and guide school planning and improvement strategies. The Department will also use the results for research purposes to improve outcomes for students. The survey is anonymous, and we encourage you to respond as honestly as possible. We would greatly appreciate your participation by Friday, 18 September 2026.

New Cricket Pitch

A huge thank you to the Black Rock Blokes for their generous fundraising and donation that supported the installation of our fantastic new cricket pitch in the middle of the school oval.

The new pitch is already a wonderful addition to our school grounds and arrives just in time before the summer cricket season. It will be used by students during Physical Education lessons, lunchtime and recess games, sports activities and cricket programs, providing a quality space for students to develop their cricket skills, enjoy active play and connect with their friends.

Importantly, the pitch provides another opportunity for our students to be active, engaged and involved in positive play during their time at school.

Thank you to everyone involved in raising the funds and helping make this project possible. Your contribution will be enjoyed by BRPS students for many years to come!

Road Safety Around Our School

A BRPS parent has passed on our concern for a dangerous and unsafe practise occurring at the back gate (Ferguson/Bayview streets gate), where parents are stopping to pick up their children in the no stopping area. It's reported that parents in their cars are pulling into the no stopping area, often in front of other children trying to cross the street. This is not only creating unnecessary traffic congestion as other cars can't get by, but more to the point an unsafe and dangerous situation for children and others around them.

I am requesting that all parents drive slowly and with extreme caution around the school, obeying all traffic signs and directions at all times. Thank you for your support in keeping all members of our school community safe. 

Book Week 2026 – Symphony of Stories

What a wonderful celebration of reading we enjoyed during Book Week 2026!

Throughout the week, students explored quality literature and celebrated this year’s theme, “Symphony of Stories.” A highlight was our fantastic Book Week Parade, with an impressive array of creative costumes bringing favourite characters and stories to life.

It was wonderful to see so many families join us for the parade and share in the excitement. We also celebrated our Readathon achievements and the enthusiasm our students continue to show for reading.

Thank you to our staff (especially Tamsin Hinchley, Matt Halford and Jacqui Hutchinson), students and families for making Book Week such a fun and memorable celebration of books and reading!

Term 3 Activities and Events

Co- and extra-curricular events over the final weeks of term include:

• Footy Colours Day (Fri 11th Sep)
• Year 4 Camp

Curriculum Days - Student Free - NONE in Term 3

The remaining 2026 student-free days are:

• Friday 20th November
• Friday 18th December (final day of 2026 for students will be Thursday 17th December).

2026 School Council 

School Council held it's fifth meeting on Thursday 6th August.  

The next School Council meeting of Black Rock Primary School will be held on Thursday 10th September at 6.30pm in the staff room. 

Final Day Dismissal

The final day for Term 3 is Friday 18th September, with early dismissal at 2.30pm. Please ensure you have made pick-up or OSHC arrangements for the earlier dismissal time.
