Water a FABULOUS start to the year!
We have been busy in sport – we've had our Swimming Carnival, Division and Regional Swimming, School Sports Victoria trials as well as working on developing our throwing and catching skills during sport lessons!
Throughout our lessons, we have been warming up for our Cross Country which will be held on Monday 27th April at Thompsons Beach for our 3-6 students, and at school for our F-2 students!
Foundation – Year 2: Students have been learning new games while developing their throwing and catching skills. They are also focusing on building core strength through a range of fun and engaging activities.
Year 3–4: Students have been refining their throwing and catching skills through games such as 3 Ball, Dodgeball, Jedi Dodgeball Tag, and individual challenges. These include throwing a tennis ball into the air and catching it as many times as possible within one minute, then aiming to beat their personal best. Additional challenges involve adding a clap before catching to increase difficulty.
Year 5–6: Students have been developing teamwork and collaboration skills through activities such as Capture the Flag, Dodgeball, Dodgeball Tag, and group throwing and catching with tennis balls. They are also focusing on individual skill development by completing challenges such as throwing and catching a tennis ball to themselves, increasing the number of claps before catching, and recording how many successful throws and catches they can achieve within a set time.
In Term 2, students will focus on developing their kicking skills, as well as building an understanding of netball and the key skills required to play the game, including passing, shooting, and teamwork.
I am immensely proud of the progress and can’t wait to see what we can achieve in Term 2 and beyond!
