Foundation Learning Community

Thank you for a fabulous term! We cannot believe the term is over! The children have done such fabulous learning, they have made new friends and have learnt lots of classroom routines. In the 38 school days we have had, the children have learnt 6 sounds and have begun to read and write three letter words using these sounds. We are so very proud of them.  

Please continue to practice the sounds we have learnt by using the home reading diary activities and by taking the character cards off the keychain to make and read words.  Please note that we will learn the sounds for /f/ and /r/ in the first week back next term.  

Next Term the children will bring a book home to read to an adult. The ‘Home Reading Diary’ will give lots of great hints as well as other words to learn to read, ‘Tricky Words’. 

We had a fabulous Teddy Bear’s Picnic Day last week. The students enjoyed bringing their special teddy with them to school and completing activities such as biscuit decorating. We enjoyed a walk to Mivo Park and played on the equipment after eating lunch with their teddies. 

We were so proud of the Foundation students being so brave in getting up on stage to perform our fete song! They sang with so much enthusiasm and joy. We hope you enjoyed their performance that they had practiced so much for.  

We look forward to more amazing learning in Term 2! Have a wonderful Easter break.
