Term 2 - Week 10

Grade 1 & 2
Term 2 - Week 10
Welcome to our last week of Term 2. The children have worked hard and participated in many activities and learning.
During our Inquiry unit, we have been learning about the many types of farms and the journey of how food comes to our plates.
In Week 8, we looked at egg farms, and it was very appreciated when Oliver McRae and his family brought in baby chickens, along with photos, to teach us more about farming, especially egg farming.
Weeks 9 and 10 , we focused on wheat and dairy farms, and the children grew their own wheat and made butter, a fun way to end the unit.

Our Literacy books, during this time, were ‘Chicken Little’, ‘The Little Red Hen’ and ‘Making Yoghurt'. The children loved to end the term by watching the movie Chicken Little.

Participation has been a wonderful concept in our Religious Education unit this term. We looked at one of the Catholic Social Teachings, Subsidiarity. The children discovered that they need to ‘listen’ to leaders and, with the right choice, to participate or join in to make the world a better place. We concluded the unit by making trees showing ways we can ‘Grow Together Through Participation’.

We wish everyone a wonderful, restful and safe holiday and look forward to the second half of the year.
