🧪 Welcome Back to Term 3 – SciTech

Welcome back to another exciting term of learning in SciTech! This term, our students will be exploring the amazing world of Biology through hands-on investigations, virtual experiences and creative design challenges.

🌱 Years 3 & 4 – Museum of Natural History

This term, our Year 3 and 4 students are becoming Museum Curators as they work towards creating their own Museum of Natural History in Minecraft Education.

During the first few weeks, students will investigate:

  • What makes museums engaging and informative?
  • The differences between living and non-living things.
  • How scientists classify objects and collect evidence.
  • Why museums are important places for preserving and sharing scientific knowledge.

Students will explore real museums, watch videos, complete investigations and collect images and observations that will help them design realistic museum exhibits later in the term.

🌍 Years 5 & 6 – Exploring Earth's Biomes

Our Year 5 and 6 students are becoming Biome Explorers, investigating some of the world's most incredible environments before designing their own biome exhibits in Minecraft Education.

During the first three weeks, students will investigate:

  • Week 1: What biomes are and how physical conditions determine where plants and animals can survive.
  • Week 2: Oceans – exploring coral reefs, kelp forests and the incredible diversity of life beneath the sea through the inspiring documentaries of Sir David Attenborough and virtual underwater investigations.
  • Week 3: Rainforests and Jungles – discovering the layers of the rainforest, the unique plants and animals that live there, and the adaptations that allow them to survive in one of Earth's richest ecosystems.

Students will develop their observation skills by thinking and working like real scientists—collecting evidence, identifying patterns and making connections between living things and their environments.

⭐ Living Our School Values

Across every SciTech lesson, students will continue to demonstrate our school values of Respect, Collaboration and Perseverance by working together, asking thoughtful questions, showing curiosity and persisting through challenges as they investigate the natural world.

We are looking forward to another fantastic term filled with exploration, creativity and discovery.

"No one will protect what they don't care about; and no one will care about what they have never experienced."— Sir David Attenborough

Thank you for your continued support.
