Principal's Message

Welcome back to our MPHPS Community

Term 3 is always a busy term and before we blink, we are already preparing for the end of the year. Now is the time to reinforce learning expectations and solidify the relationship between the classroom teacher and yourself. Expectations for learning achievement and student engagement will always remain high and we take our responsibility to support student growth with focus and determination. I hope you all took the opportunity to meet with your relevant teachers at the end of term 2 to celebrate the first semester of learning and also to consider the opportunities for improvement over the second half.

Our SWPBS goals and targets have proven to be very successful, and we are extremely proud of the many students who have accepted the challenge to fully accept our MPHPS values. I commend the students on their ability to walk in a calm and orderly manner when moving from one location to another and am truly grateful to the large majority of students who consider their teacher and the students in their classroom by focusing on their learning without disrupting others. Less interruptions and a respectful attitude mean more focused and calm learning for everyone.

On Friday we celebrated the 100 days of school with our Foundation students. A huge thanks goes out to the amazing Elena Raptis, Christina Caligiuri, Zara Incorvaja and Paula Caseras for their dedication to these wonderful students. This is a terrific achievement and an even more special celebration day.

While we are celebrating, I would like to highlight the Athletics carnival which is occurring this week. I urge you to check dates and times and we look forward to you joining us to cheer on the students at the Meadow Glen stadium and/or on our MPHPS school oval. As always, these days can’t go ahead without the brilliant leadership from Sarah Maxwell and Eli Taleski. We are incredibly lucky to have such skilled and committed staff who advocate for all students.

I do remind you all to double check dates advertised on our newsletter, electronic board and via Compass. We do provide most of our dates at the very start of the year and also advertise these in every newsletter. I was surprised to be told some families were not aware of a recent pupil free day despite us advertising regularly. Please don’t get caught out the last minute.

Finally, if you are aware of any location changes to 2027, please let us know as soon as possible. Staffing is always very tight and term 3 is major time for us to prepare for the next year. It is vital that we are working on correct numbers for each year level as we determine grades and teachers. If you are not attending MPHPS in 2027, please put this in writing and send this to Amanda in our front office. Alternatively, if you have not yet enrolled a sibling, or if you are aware of others who are considering enrolment, please contact Amanda to secure your spot. Placement for new students in years 1 to 6 in 2027 are very limited and placement for Foundation / Prep has a ceiling. Once a ceiling is reached, future students will unfortunately be placed on a waiting list. Please make sure you don’t miss out.

Wishing you all a wonderful fortnight.
