Supporting Moira FoodShare: Why the Winter Appeal Matters
Last week, staff from Moira FoodShare visited our school to collect donations generously contributed by our staff and families as part of our annual Winter Appeal.
The response from our community was wonderful, and a timely reminder of just how significant local need can be. Each week, approximately 10 percent of our shire relies on FoodShare for support — meaning roughly one in every ten people in our region accesses food relief through FoodShare's network of agencies, community partners, volunteers and direct programs. It is a sobering statistic, and one that makes the generosity of our school community all the more meaningful.
We extend our sincere thanks to every person who contributed to this year's appeal. Whether through a tin of food, a packet of essentials, or simply the spirit in which it was given, every donation makes a real difference to someone in our community who needs it most.
Initiatives like the Winter Appeal are a beautiful expression of our Anglican Identity — faith made visible through practical acts of care, service and compassion for others. We are proud of the kind and generous community we are, and grateful for the opportunity to support such an important local cause.
