Sports Update 

A Historic Day At Regional Cross Country

Friday 12 June will long be remembered as a landmark day for sport at Cobram AGS, with our Cross Country team delivering the school's best-ever performance at the Hume Region Championships in Benalla. Competing against some of the region's strongest runners, our students rose to the occasion, producing outstanding results and creating a proud moment in the school's sporting history.

Twenty-two students — spanning both primary and secondary — represented the school with distinction, but the headline achievement was an extraordinary nine qualifications for the State Championships later this year! Leading the way were Year 8 students Jas Brown and Aiden Power, who each claimed outright victory in their respective races — a phenomenal effort and a fitting reward for their dedication throughout the season.

Joining them in securing a place at State level were Sam Brown (3rd), Jayden Huang (6th), Neve Macheda (8th), Lucy Hemming (8th) and Owen Lesheim (10th), while Jack Watkins and Mitchell Carr both who earned qualification through the team event structure. 

To have nine students progress to the State Championships is a remarkable achievement that we are very proud of. Congratulations, too, to all 22 representatives who gave everything on the course. A special thank you to Mr O'Dwyer and Ms Mills for their wonderful support and encouragement throughout the day.

We will be cheering our State qualifiers on every step of the way!

GMDSSV Badminton 

On the second last day of term, we had several badminton teams compete at the Year 9/10 GMDSSV Winter Sports event. Our Girls' A team consisting of Jessica Voeurn, Vanessa Voeurn, Melody Su and Angelina McKay of did particularly well, reaching the grand final, going down 4 sets to 2 against Shepparton Christian College in a gallant effort!

Carter and Ollie Shine at SSV State Soccer Trials 

Two of our talented young soccer players have recently made the school immensely proud, competing at the highest levels of Victorian state junior football selection.

Year 6 student Carter Haddrell performed exceptionally throughout the SSV 12 & Under Team Victoria selection process, competing against thousands of students from across the state. Carter progressed all the way to the final selection stage — placing him among just 36 of the best young soccer players in Victoria.

While he narrowly missed out on final selection, this is an extraordinary achievement in its own right, and one the entire CAGS community celebrates wholeheartedly. Carter, you should be incredibly proud.

Year 7 student Ollie Adkins also represented the school with great distinction, advancing through to the regional stage of the trial process and showcasing the determination and commitment that defines him as a player.
