Interact Club

Cook Off for Afghanistan

On Wednesday 17th June, the Interact Club ran the Cook Off for Afghanistan, assisting in the preparation of serving of over 120 meals to the McClelland College community.  This was the fourth iteration of the event, which was led by staff member Manila Shakoor and initiated by Hamida Lufti.  Students and staff spent a busy two days preparing for the event, cooking a number of traditional Afghan meals, including dhal, chicken curry, rice, naan bread and desserts.  The day was an overwhelming success, with $1720 raised for the orphanage, which provides education and care for a number of orphans in Afghanistan.  Well done to all Interact Club members for their participation in the event!  Thank you also to the Rotary Club of Frankston North for their generous donation in support of the day, as well as to all of the McClelland College staff that assisted with the event!

Pyjama Day

Thursday 26th June saw the Interact Club run a Pyjama Day!  McClelland was a sea of colour, with students and staff embracing the event as a celebration for the end of term.  The $424.75 raised will be donated to the Starlight Children’s Foundation, which supports students and their families who are experiencing medical hardship.  Well done to Ash Lester in Year 11 for her hard work in initiating this project, and thank you to all of the staff and students who participated in the event and donated to the cause!
