RSL Liaisons Canberra Visit

2026 RSL Liaisons travel to Canberra for Anzac Day services
Reflection by Kate C and Amelia K
From April 22nd to April 25th Amelia and I were away in Canberra with the Kedron Wavell RSL Liaisons. We spent an amazing four days in Canberra engaging in many fun activities.
On Wednesday the 22nd of April it was an early start as we met everyone at 7:00 am at the airport for an 8:50 am flight. We arrived in Canberra at around 12:00 pm where we met our bus driver Brendan and headed over to our first of many activities.
These included the Hellenic Memorial, a guided walk along Anzac Parade, a visit to the Australian War Memorial, a senate roleplay at Old Parliament House, a visit to the Electoral Museum, the Royal Australian Mint, Parliament House, The National Capitol Authority, Questacon, National Film and Sound Archives, and the National Gallery of Australia.
Three standout experiences from our time away included The Last Post Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial, a presentation from RSL veterans, and the Dawn Service at The Royal Military College, Duntroon.
The Last Post Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial
After our tour of the Australian War Memorial, we also attended the Last Post Ceremony located at the Pool of Reflection. This was a special experience during which we were able to lay a wreath representing each of our schools and the Kedron Wavell RSL.
Presentation from RSL veterans
After settling into our accommodation and having dinner, we all met in the common room where the veterans who came along with us, Fred and John, gave us a presentation about their lives and service history. Listening to their stories was very insightful and gave us greater appreciation for their sacrifice.
Dawn Service at The Royal Military College, Duntroon
The morning of Anac Day began early as we travelled to Duntroon for the Dawn Service. We were honoured to lay a wreath on behalf of the Kedron Wavell RSL.
