Term 2 Highlights

Let's look back on the exciting happenings around the College across Term 2 during our Year of Courage.

Interhouse Cross Country Carnival

We kicked off the Term with our Interhouse Cross Country Carnival in Week 1. It was fantastic to see house spirit shine as our students supported each other.

Spoleto House took out the top position, beating Greccio by just one point! The top four positions were very close and are a testament to everyone's participation and house spirit.

Colour Week

Colour Week, a treasured Mt A tradition, honours the legacy of founder Elizabeth Hayes. This year, students chose green to support the Children’s Hospital Foundation, inspired by their experience at Sony Camp and the impact of children’s hospitals. Through activities like green accessories, reflective writing, and a Flashback Friday dress-up, students engaged both joyfully and meaningfully. Funds raised throughout the week will support the Foundation, with thanks to Liturgy & Outreach Captain Miranda and her peers for leading such a purposeful initiative.

Mum & Daughter Movie Night

In the lead up to Mother’s Day, our Parent Partnership Panel hosted a special evening for Mt A daughters and the mums, mother figures or significant people who support them.

There was plenty of chatting, laughter and time to connect before settling in to watch The Devil Wears Prada 2.

National Reconciliation Week

During National Reconciliation Week, students were invited to gather in the Carceri during homeroom and breaks to take part in a series of reflective and community-focused activities. Our Mt A Mob students attended ceremonies at Kalinga and Teralba parks, and First Nations Chef Kara Pulu attended the College to give a cultural talk and bush tucker presentation to the Mt A Mob and lead a hands-on cooking workshop for Hospitality students.

Thank you to all of the students and staff who made our 2026 Open Day such a success for our prospective families and represented the College with pride. Enjoy our Open Day Highlights video below.

FCIP Rock Symphony

Across three huge nights at the end of May, FCIP's biennial extravaganza, Rock Symphony brought the San Damiano to life, with Latin Fiesta. Featuring a spectacular 150-piece orchestra and an 80-voice choir, from Mount Alvernia, Padua and St Anthony’s school the performances were nothing short of breathtaking.

Beyond The Bell- Episodes 2 & 3

This term, we produced two new episodes of the Mount Alvernia College Podcast, Beyond The Bell

Episode 2- The Courage to Care: Sony Camp Reflections spotlights Sony Foundation Camp, where Mt A students have stepped up as carers of children with disability for over 20 years, and experienced the power of service, connection and inclusion. Guests included Year 12 students Gemma and Daniela alongside alumnae Georgia (Class of 2015) and Miss Davis (Class of 2006 & Mt A staff).

In our third episode - More Than The Scoreboard, we hear from three of Mt A’s sport achievers: Pia (Year 11), Taylor (Year 9) and Metben (Year 11). The episode explores the powerful connection between sport, mindset, and everyday life, highlighting how moments of challenge can become opportunities for growth.

Thank you to our College Captains Monica and Niamh for their ongoing enthusiasm and commitment to this initiative. Listen or watch these episodes below.
