What's On In Foundation

For our Integrated Unit Foundation students have been investigating how to be more sustainable and care for our environment. We have then learnt about our Indigenous culture, and recently have explored DreamTime Stories.
We were so excited to participate in a Drama Toolbox incursion that brought the well known DreamTime story ‘Tiddalik’ to life, with the help of music and costumes.
Tiddalik was a very greedy frog who did not share any of the fresh water with his animal friends. Students were so excited to turn themselves into many of our native animals and role play the story. Smiles and laughter filled the air as our ‘birds’ flew around the room and our ‘frilled neck lizards’ growled to scare off others! All the animals worked as a team and performed a vibrant ‘eel dance’ with scarves. Tiddalik laughed so hard that all of the water came out of his belly and filled up the billabong again!
This was such a lovely way to bring a traditional DreamTime story to life and into our classroom.
