🏔️Leven Canyon Hike🚶🏼♂️
The Outdoor Leadership class went to Leven Canyon for a short hike for some of the students' assessment task on leading a hike. The weather was beautiful and everyone had a good time. It was nice to experience some of God's creation.

Year 11/12 Chemistry
Our Year 11/12 Chemistry 4 class entered the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) Titration Competition, competing against senior chemistry students from across the state. This is the first time that our students have competed in this competition. For many of the students, the pressure for very high levels of accuracy was intense. They were required to find out the exact amount of an unknown substance (Potassium Hydrogen Phthalate) supplied in a small vial. This used many of the skills that the students have been learning this year in Chemistry.
We now eagerly await the results to see how accurate each of our students are in their experimental work!
🔍🔬Science week for Kinders 🦠🧪
Kinders celebrated the start of Science week by participating in a variety of science activities and experiments. They dressed up as scientists in lab coats and safety goggles, then used magnifying glasses to investigate the classroom. They made seed bombs, mixed fizzy colours and played in oobleck.

Science Week was in full swing at Leighland during August!
Our Prep to Year 6 students were delighted to welcome Tamara and Sophie from Harvest Moon as part of this year's Science Week celebrations. They loved hearing the story of a successful local Tasmanian business and discovering the science behind growing sweet, crunchy Snackable Carrots.
From learning about soil, growing conditions, and plant development to understanding what makes a carrot the perfect snack, students were fascinated by the journey from paddock to punnet. The highlight of the visit? Getting to taste their very own Snackable Carrots of course!
The excitement didn't stop there. Later in the week, students planted their own carrot seeds and continued exploring the science of growth and sustainability through hands-on investigations connected to this year's Science Week theme.
A big thank you to Harvest Moon for sharing their expertise, resources and Snackables, as well as inspiring our young scientists and helping us see the amazing science growing right here in our local community!
🗻🌨️Ben Lomond National Park⛷️❄️
Our Outdoor Leadership class spent 2 days in God's awe-inspiring creation at Ben Lomond National Park. Students were given snowboarding lessons and then spent the rest of the time refining their new skills on different tracks. Students showed excellent resilience and skill progression as their confidence improved. As a group, the students spent time together worshiping, reflecting and building relationships.
