A Terrific Trivia Night!

Trivia Night: A Disney/Pixar-Themed Wonderland

A record number of parents filled a new venue for the 2026 FPS Trivia Night, turning The Centre in Ivanhoe into a Disney/Pixar-themed wonderland for the night. 330 parents showed why the Fairfield PS trivia night has the biggest reputation in the north, with incredible costumes, some decorative magic, highly competitive trivia and an active dance floor.

The 'Disney Legal Team' table won a close trivia battle, thanks to the three points they won in the bonus round, which vaulted them into first place over 'No Idea Just Keep Swimming' and 'Temple of Doom Through the Looking Glass' who took 2nd and 3rd places respectively.

Nick Nelson won the best-dressed competition with his 'Forky' outfit from Toy Story 4 - he was a deserved winner amongst fierce competition having also built the giant fairytale book displayed in the foyer on the night. The best dressed team went to 'Up', who really had to be seen to be believed – the highlight being a giant replica house from the movie Up, complete with balloons and talking dogs.

For the first time in many years, we also saw the return of a live auction for an 'Indulgence Package', centrepieced by a pair of stunning diamond earrings donated by Simon West Fine Jewellery. The live auction raised $2400, whilst the silent auction raised more than $9000! Special thanks also to our sponsors for the night, Nelson Alexander Northcote who hosted the auction and made a generous cash donation to the night. Nelson Alexander used the occasion to announce their new 'referral program', which allows FPS to raise even more money each time a community member lists their house with Nelson Alexander.

The trivia was followed by two sets from our very own band, North Side Hustle, fresh off their amazing performance in the local schools 'Battle of the Bands' a couple of weeks ago. As always, NSH were a crowd favourite, instantly filling the dance floor. Their sets were interspersed with DJ sets from Paul Agius who kept the dance floor crowded right through until the midnight cut-off. And what more appropriate time to cut the fairytale crowd off than midnight?

The night raised more than $20,000 for the school – more importantly though, as our largest parents event for the year, the trivia night brings the community together in a special way and helps to build friendships across all year levels. There would certainly have been some sore heads being nursed at Sunday morning sport the next day but we think it's all worth it. Mostly.

Thank You!

Thank-you to everyone who makes the night possible, with particular thanks to everyone who coordinated and contributed to the silent auction (especially Maree Porra and Phuong Phan), the live auction (especially Vanessa Vandonkelaar), our best-dressed judge (Carly), our sponsors (Nelson Alexander and Simon West Fine Jewellery), our trivia masters and scorers (Erin, Paul, Caitie and Michael), sound engineer Michael Pascoe, DJ Paul Agius, and the whole North Side Hustle band.

We'll see you all again next year!
