May 2026 Music Report & Concert Reviews
Thank you to all the amazing students who performed at the Winter Concert. On Thursday 4 June, the College came together to celebrate the dedication and hard work of the students involved in our music program.
We enjoyed a fabulous evening of performances from the Year 7 and 8 Bands, Senior Band, Jazz Ensemble, Contemporary Bands, Primary Chapel Choir, and Secondary Chapel Band. We were also delighted to hear a vocal solo from our Year 12 Prefect, Megan.

It was a wonderful evening, and our students had prepared so beautifully as they showcased their best work from Semester 1. What a joy it is to lead such an amazing group of students here at Christway. My heart is always so full after a concert like this, where each student has the opportunity to experience the excitement of performing and the courage it takes to step onto the stage and share what they have been learning in such a vulnerable and meaningful way.
Congratulations to all involved, and thank you to the teaching staff who gave up their evening to supervise and support students as they prepared for their performances. It takes many people to make a Music Evening successful, so thank you to all the staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this event possible.
We had so many students interested in performing instrumental solos this year that we were delighted to host two separate concerts.

Our Piano, Woodwind and Brass Soirée was held in F1 on Monday 22 June. It was wonderful to welcome families into our new space and share an afternoon of beautiful music in our newly refurbished music room. The intimate setting created a special atmosphere, and the piano students performed exceptionally well on the grand piano—a truly memorable experience for many of them.
In preparation for the soirée, students were given the opportunity to have their lessons on the grand piano, and this additional experience was clearly reflected in their polished and well-prepared performances. We were also treated to lovely performances on the flute, clarinet, and cello.
Thank you to Jeannie Kwan, Jeff Heath, and Michelle Cleland for preparing the students so thoroughly for these performances.
On Tuesday 23 June, we held our Drums, Voice and Guitar Soirée. We enjoyed a range of wonderful performances from brave and enthusiastic students who were excited to take to the auditorium stage and share their talents with family and friends.
A special congratulations goes to Amelie and Georgia, who performed their own original compositions. Writing and performing original music is a remarkable talent, and we felt privileged to be the first audience to hear their work. Recording studios, here they come!
Thank you to Alyssa Allet and Jerush Perera for preparing your students so well and supporting them throughout their performance journey.
Please note that we currently have waiting lists for Voice, Guitar and Drum Kit lessons due to high demand. However, there are still places available for students interested in Woodwind, Brass and Piano lessons.
If you are interested, lease see the attached information booklet and enrolment form. Completed enrolment forms can be submitted to the College Office or emailed directly to Ratna at music.admin@christway.vic.edu.au. If you have any questions about the music tuition program, please contact Ratna at music.admin@christway.vic.edu.au.
I wish all our students and families a restful and enjoyable mid-year break and look forward to the many exciting events and opportunities that the remainder of the year will bring.
