From the Head of Secondary's Desk

As we come to the end of Term 2, I am thankful for the many opportunities our students have had to learn, grow, and challenge themselves. Whether in the classroom, through sport, camps, excursions, or everyday interactions, it has been encouraging to see students developing both their skills and their character.

One of the great privileges of working in a Christian school is that our focus extends beyond academic achievement to the development of the whole child. While striving for excellence in learning remains important, we are equally committed to supporting students spiritually, socially, emotionally, and physically, helping them discover their God-given gifts and purpose.

Last week, we held an excellent VCE Information Night where families learned more about the pathways available at Christway College, including VCE, VET programs, Early Commencement university courses, and Virtual School Victoria. Mrs Dani Roberts continues to do a fantastic job supporting students as they explore future study and career pathways.

Career conversations are not just important for our senior students. The middle years are a valuable time for students to explore their strengths, interests, and future possibilities. The aim is not to lock students into a particular pathway but to provide guidance through experiences and conversations that help them better understand themselves and the opportunities available. Any Secondary student or parent seeking guidance is encouraged to contact Mrs Roberts to arrange a careers meeting.

Our Year 10 students also recently completed their Work Experience placements. A key strength of this program is that students source their own placements, building confidence, initiative, and communication skills. It was a pleasure to visit students across a range of workplaces and to see them representing the College so well.

Ephesians 2:10 reminds us that we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. It is a privilege to walk alongside our students as they discover their strengths, develop their gifts, and seek God's direction for the future.

I would also like to thank our Parents and Friends Association for the Disco Night and Trivia Night held this term. These events strengthen our community and provide valuable opportunities for families to connect. Thank you to Janet Abbott and the PFA team for the significant work they do behind the scenes to make these events possible.

Thank you for your continued support throughout the term. I pray the holiday break provides an opportunity for rest, refreshment, and quality time with family. We look forward to welcoming students back next term as we continue Growing in Christ, Striving for Excellence, and Influencing the World.
