Year 5/6 News

In Week 5 of Term 2, the Year 5 and 6s had their camp week. We went to Urban Surf, Gravity Zone and Lady Northcote Discovery Camp.

Urban Surf

On Monday 18th of May we went to Urban Surf. When we got there everyone was excited and ready to go, so we each got a wetsuit and went to put it on. (It was a bit tricky!) After that, we had a snack and got into the water. We all had our boards and the instructors helped us catch the waves, it was very fun. Standing up was hard, but I got it. We had some lunch and then had some free time! I went out really far. We didn’t want it to end but we had to leave so we packed up and said goodbye to Urban Surf. I can’t wait to go back!

Gravity Zone

On Tuesday the 19th of May the fun continued when we went to Gravity Zone! Everyone was raring to go as soon as we hopped off the bus. We got wristbands and grippy socks to put on before we could start bouncing. After everyone was ready, we could go. There was dodgeball and a ninja warrior course and over 80 trampolines! We also had access to Laser Tag, our first round was awesome. There were power ups and bases. It was really fun. We had lunch and then went out to bounce some more. We also got a great picture of all of us on top of a wall in the trampoline park. The day was amazing and I can not wait to go back for birthday parties!

Lady Northcote Camp

On May 20th to May 22nd, we attended Lady Northcote Discovery Camp. When we got there everyone was hungry so we had a snack and chilled, then we jumped right into it with our first activity Radio Rogaine. Radio Rogaine is where you and your team have walkie talkies and go around the campsite finding answers to questions. We also did Archery, which is shooting arrows at targets. On the second day we did Canoeing, Giant Swing, Flying Fox and Risky Kids. In Canoeing, we paddled around the lake trying to find rubber ducks to put in our boats and the boat with the most ducks won. Giant Swing was very fun. Your group would pull you up with a rope until you yelled stop then they would count you down. 3….2….1! You would yank a piece of rope and drop! Flying Fox was cool because when it wasn’t your turn you weren’t just standing around waiting, you were running the rope back for the next person. The actual Flying Fox went really fast. Risky Kids was kind of like parkour. We learnt to jump over logs in a certain way and balance. We played the floor is lava game. We even had to jump over walls! On the last day everyone was tired but the last activity was a blast! We were in our groups and we had to do challenges and find Disney items along the way. Even though my group didn’t win, we still had fun.

All in all it was the best camp ever and it made me feel like I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and still had fun. Camp is really great and I could not think of a better way to finish my primary school camp experience.
