Semester One Reporting
Staff are currently working on assessment and reporting as they gather evidence to support students' academic achievement against the Victorian Curriculum and the Religious Education Framework.
Your child's achievement against the Victorian Curriculum and the Religious Education Framework for the semester is rated against a five point descriptor scale, displayed by a Dot, which identifies whether your child is:
Well above standard
Above standard
At standard
Below standard
Well below standard
Not all strands of a Learning Area are reported on each semester. If a child is showing the same result at the end of Semester 1 compared to the previous report, this does mean that progress has not occurred. Progress is not always even and each child has his/her own rate of learning. Each increment represents six month's growth and your child may still be progressing, but consolidating what has been learnt previously e.g. your child may have shown five months growth, but not moved up an increment.
The Student Report format will contain a personalised 'Comment on Student Learning' which may refer to the student's academic achievement, personal and interpersonal skills, thinking skills, organisational skills as well as behaviour and effort.
The Student Report will provide you with an overview of your child's achievements and assist in strengthening our family-school partnership. The Student Report is intended to promote discussion at the Parent/Teacher Chat (27 August) about how we can work together to benefit your child.
You will be able to access the Report via the nForma Parent Portal. We will send notification via Audiri, when the Reports are available to view on Friday 26 June.
Staff Professional Development - Team Teach
As part of one of the strategic deliverables underpinning the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) Vision for Engagement, the Student Engagement team at MACS have broadened their partnership with Team Teach to support school-based training in managing student behaviour, support staff safety and build and maintain a
positive school culture.
Today, all Sacred Heart staff participated in a full day professional development workshop facilitated by Team Teach.
Team Teach is an accredited training framework designed to enhance staff capabilities in behaviour support and to promote a safe, inclusive, and cohesive school environment. It centres on practical, preventative strategies and offers a structured, respectful response to incidents. Training equips staff with:
• Practical strategies for supporting positive student behaviour
• De-escalation and risk reduction techniques
• Restorative processes following incidents
• Clarity around relevant legislation and MACS policy expectations
By adopting Team Teach, schools can expect improved staff confidence in managing challenging behaviours, clear procedures for responding to incidents, and a cohesive environment thatsupports both staff and students. Many of the principles explored throughout the day — including relationship-based practice, explicit teaching of behavioural expectations, emotional regulation and preventative support strategies — align closely with the positive culture we continue to build at Sacred Heart.
Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD)
The NCCD is an annual collection of information about Australian school students who are receiving adjustments because of disability.
- For the NCCD, schools count the number of students receiving adjustments because of disability and make decisions about the level of adjustment being provided for each student with disability.
- Schools provide NCCD information to education authorities and the Australian Government Department of Education.
- For the NCCD, school teams must have evidence to show that they have followed the Standards processes.
For more information about the NCCD, please read the link below.
