Year Four Camp
Last week, our Year Four children trekked all the way to Bayview Camp in Grantville for their three day Camp experience. During their time away, our Year Four children enjoyed many fun activities, including, the Giant Swing, Bike Riding, Canoeing, High Ropes and Animal Farm (where they met all types of characters - ponies, pigs, goats and sheep amongst the furry gang). All children challenged themselves in different ways, giving new things a go, stepping out of their comfort zone, into the great unknown. A BIG thank you to all our staff members who attended our Year Four Camp with our children, Miss Olney, Mrs De Iuliis, Mr O'Shea and Mr Weekes. It was a brilliant three days away together!
Camp Reflections
Last week at the Bayview Adventure Camp the Year 4s went to do a lot of activities like the Giant swing, Junior Farm, Radio Runabout, High Ropes and Canoeing. My favourite activities were the Giant Swing and Junior Farm. They were lots of fun because I stepped outside of my comfort zone. In my opinion it was my favourite camp so far. At the Giant Swing it felt like the wind was bursting into you at 100kph which was scary. At the Junior Farm we saw pigs. I was scared of them because the instructor said they can bite your whole hand off in one go so I didn't hand feed them a lot of food, just little bits at a time which was still scary, but not that scary. At the High Ropes there were like 4 courses but we could only do 2 of them. I did the leap of faith and the catwalk. It was super SCARY!

On Monday 25th of May the Year 4s we went to camp. It was so fun because it was our first 2 night camp. We did lots of activities like Junior Farm, High Ropes, Canoeing and Bike Riding that were so fun. My favourite activity was the giant swing because it felt like you were flying through the air. It was the best camp ever!

Camp was great. I loved it. There was good food and great activities. My favourite activity was the giant swing and bike riding. Sleeping was also good after people stopped talking! It was the best camp I’ve ever experienced!

Sacred Heart Food Drive and Feast of the Sacred Heart Mass
Our annual Sacred Heart Food Drive (see poster below) began this week (led by our Year 3 children as part of our Whole School Social Justice program). Each year as a school we collect donations to support the Brigidine Asylum Resource Centre.
As we do every year we call on all our families to 'give what they can' as we collect essential household items for those less fortunate than ourselves in our community.
Next Friday 12 June, we will be celebrating the Feast of the Sacred Heart. We will all attend mass as a whole school at 9:15am and look forward to seeing our Sacred Heart families and friends if available to attend. At the end of mass we will have a brief thank you from Renee Mazioum the (CEO) of the Brigidine Asylum Seekers' Project.
Thank you to all the families that have sent food in with your child. We will continue to collect food until the morning of our mass Friday 12th June. Mrs Richardson will then deliver the food items to the Brigidine Asylum Seeker in Albert Park.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support!
CatholicCare Walk-a-Thon
The weather Gods smiled down upon us last Friday as we all participated in our annual Walkathon, raising money for CatholicCare. After a presentation by Sally-Anne and Nevin from CatholicCare, where they explained how and who our donation of funds would help, we all set off with our legs primed and ready, wrist tags on, and began our Walkathon.
We thank all our staff and parents who ensured that all participants were safe as we walked many times around our school block and surrounding streets.
Our children and families generously contributed $4304.50.
What an outstanding result! Well done and THANK YOU to all families who were able to donate to our very keen and fast walkers on the day.
Sally-Anne and Nevin from CatholicCare will be so appreciative of all our efforts.
First Nations Incursion
Last Friday, all students participated in a First Nations Incursion led by Sean Candy, a descendant of the Palawa people of Tasmania. Sean spoke to the children about the traditional cultural activities and their interrelation with seasonal changes in the natural environment. He showcased a range of authentic Aboriginal artifacts relating to hunting, music, arts and crafts. The students listened to live didgeridoo music and were provided with hand-on experiences such as feeling various animal skins, emu eggs, and boomerangs.
Division Cross Country
Congratulations to Emily L (Senior AP), Felix T (Senior AP), and Charlotte S (4EO) for proudly representing our school at Division Cross Country on Monday. Their dedication, perseverance, and positive attitude were on full display as they competed against students from across the division. Participating in such a challenging event is a wonderful achievement, and we commend them for their effort, sportsmanship, and commitment. Well done, Emily, Felix, and Charlotte! Congratulations to Charlotte who has progressed through to Regionals next Thursday 11 June.

2026 School Closure Days
As was communicated to families last year...
* Time in Lieu (TIL)
The current Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022 (the Agreement) has a formal time in lieu (TIL) process for teachers. The Agreement provides that a principal may require a teacher to undertake work and attend a school activity outside the normal hours of attendance (i.e., in excess of the 38 hours or normal hours for a part-time teacher) and when this occurs, it will attract TIL.
Principals should prepare for the accrual and acquittal of TIL through their annual planning process. The timing of the acquittal of TIL is at the discretion of the principal, having regard to the operational needs of the school and causing the least disruption to the educational program of the school.
Principals may elect to acquit TIL through designating days during the year on which all staff and students are not required to attend school.
