AFL Umpiring Academy
Over past years the WFNL/WRFL Umpires association and the Wyndham Council have run three AFL umpiring academies in the Wyndham area:
MacKillop College Werribee
Hoppers Crossing Football ground
Point Cook Football ground.
These academies are staffed by experienced umpiring personnel and run Monday's from 4.00 - 5.00 pm between 3rd March and 28th July. They teach participants - MANAGEMENT- UMPIRING SKILLS- CONTROL- FITNESS - and many other important skills students will need in business or social life in the future. The academies are free and umpires are paid good remuneration for their time. Many have gained employment just by having umpiring on their resume.
Whilst developing the above professional skills, the academies are a great way to also build a participants social skills, and the sessions, whilst structured and educational, also have an element of fun.
