All external language providers must complete the VCE Assessing School Notification form prior to or at the beginning of the year the student will study a VCE level language. This form details the students name, course code, VCE level of language (Unit 1 + 2 or Unit 3 + 4) plus the contact details and code of the external language provider.

VET Expression of Interest for 2026

Thank you to the students that returned their VET Expression of Interest forms and USI receipt. I have applied for VET on your behalf for 2026 and shall advise the application outcome as soon as we are informed by the VET providers. This may not be until mid October.

Any remaining students interested in applying for VET or who listed VET on their Web Preferences but have not completed the VET Expression of Interest form MUST complete this process urgently. Students MUST create a USI number and provide a USI receipt to enable enrolment for VET. The USI (Unique Student Identifier) is an educational number linking the student to the course studied, units of study to be completed in the course and the final outcomes. The USI is used for life for any short term or long-term courses a student undertakes. The USI portal will retain all this information making it a great central place to download transcript of results.

VET is extremely popular across schools making places highly competitive and based on a first in first served basis. We cannot guarantee securing a VET placement and recommend putting in an application first which can be withdrawn later in the year if you change your mind.

NOTE: VET Electrotechnology students please be advised Box Hill Institute and Swinburne are no longer taking applications for this course. They are oversubscribed and cannot service any more applications.

Year 12 VTAC - Victorian Tertiary Admission Centre

VTAC is the central office that administers the application process for places in tertiary courses at university, TAFE, and independent tertiary colleges in Victoria. Students apply directly to VTAC for courses of interest and are able to complete SEAS – special entry access schemes and scholarships to increase their selection ranking and opportunity into getting into courses of interest. VTAC is a fee for service. The timely round fee is $80. Students must register, apply and pay before the 29th September at 5pm. From 5:01pm the fee increases to $160 and is considered a late application.

All Year 12 students intending on applying for tertiary courses to study in 2026 or take a gap year and defer until 2027 are encouraged to submit and pay for their VTAC applications within the timely round to ensure they meet early course closing dates and retain the $80 fee.

The following courses close on the 29th September at 5pm to schedule student interviews, auditions and performance assessments. These courses cannot be added to preferences after 5pm on the 29th Sept.

Monash University > Medicine: School leaver entry, CSP bonded and CSP bonded extended rural entry

Uni Melbourne > Fine Arts: Acting, Animation, Dance, Film & TV, Music Theatre, Production, Screenwriting, Theatre, and Visual ArtsMusic

SEAS – Special Entry Access Scheme

Year 12 students can apply for SEAS once they have submitted their course preferences and paid the $80 VTAC fee. Please note students can continue to add courses to their preferences, edit and move around their preferences once they have submitted & paid.

Students must complete their SEAS impact statement before they can access the statement of support templates or download functions available on the VTAC home page under the heading ‘Providing Evidence’ on the VTAC homepage. All SEAS and scholarship applications must be submitted by Friday 11th October at 5pm

Work Experience

Work experience participation is optional at VSC and is strongly encouraged to all students aged 15yrs+ to get involved in this very beneficial and rewarding program. Students can undertake Work Experience every year until they graduate VSC.

Work experience provides young people with a taste of the real world of work and a clearer understanding of a particular industry, field or business they may be interested in pursuing in the future. It assists in career discovery and exploration, goal setting and decision making whilst preparing students for VCE or VCE VM, future tertiary studies, apprenticeship / traineeships or full-time work.

There are no designated time frames for students to complete placements as we believe a flexible delivery arrangement provides students with a better opportunity to meet the availability and operational time frames of businesses and industries within the community. This also means we are not competing with other local schools which can limit student’s placement opportunities.

Placement dates are arranged through consultation and negotiation between the employer, school and student to maximise the experience. A great time to consider undertaking work experience in Year 10 is the last week of term 3 if your child is not attending the Central Australia to Darwin trip. Interested work experience through the Defence Force? The Defence Work Experience Program provides you people interested in careers in Defence the opportunity to sample life in Defence and learn more about the ADF. Activities are hands on and interactive to assist students in making informed career decisions. Participants must be 15yrs or over at the time of placement.

Career Development

Career Development is the lifelong process of managing life, learning and work (paid and unpaid) over our lifespan. The ability to make informed decisions, manage and transition through change for a personally determined future.

Young people build their career development through self-awareness; understanding how they make decisions and how these decisions impact future aspirations through exploration, identifying interests, values and preferred learning styles through careers exploration activities such as Morrisby in Year 9 and Careers Tools in Year 10. The ability to research a wide range of career options helping them to select subjects they may enjoy learning whilst aligning to tertiary course pre-requisite requirements in the future or apprenticeship/traineeship requirements and work.

Career development is further enhanced by juggling the expectations and requirements of school with extra-curricular activities like sport and family responsibilities, part-time work, community involvement and social interests.
