1. GERMAN LANGUAGE ASSISTANT 2026

The Languages Department has recently been notified by the Department of Education about the successful application for a German Assistant in 2026. This person will work from Term 2 until Term 4 for 2 days each week.

2. SAGSE Scholarships

Congratulations to Josh Rachor, Year 12, and Samantha Jordan, Year 11 on being the recipients of these prestigious scholarships. Only 9 scholarships were awarded. Both Josh and Samantha will travel to Germany at the end of November and stay for 10 weeks. The group leader will be Oberon ex-student Kai Bowie.

3. German AGTV Competition results

a) Group Poetry

State Winners

Year 9 - Otis Pogue, Sonny Duval, Raf Hontarigo and Phoenix Marsden with their poem “Wochenende”.

Two other groups were State Finalists with the poem “Verbunden”

Year 7 – Saathvik Balaji, Harrison Coppock, Izzy Dyson, Enjay Kabylakis

Year 8 – Leyla Agenbag, Hayley Cann, Charley Fisher, Alexa Opazo, Ynna Parumog

b) Song of the Year

Second prize in the State with their song “Brot”

Year 9 – Kolbi Benson, Indigo Egberts, Ash Lyon, Max Mitchell, Luca Pulman, Ethan Varghese.

c) Puppet play

Two groups of Year 8 students were State Finalists:

Xavier Young, Mikkel Widdowson, Nate Stephens, Cooper Snelling and Harrison Dawber. Joachim Mugisha, Lenny Herbert, Cooper Huppert, Viraj Singh.

d) Advertising Clip

One group of Year 9 students was a State Finalist:

Rose Ayob, Frida Collins, Archer Gardiner, Spencer Mayson, Aiden McMillan.

Congratulations to all students who participated in these competitions. The students worked extremely hard to create some amazing entries.
