The Senior Boys Cricket, Senior Girls Tennis, and Senior Boys Tennis have competed at EMR and represented JMSS with exceptional sportsmanship, but were not able to progress to the Region Finals due to some tough competition. The Senior Boys Volleyball team fought hard to make it through to the Region Finals and finished Runners Up behind Rowville SC Sports Academy. Senior Boys Baseball and Table Tennis will play in term 2.

We have also had some major success in the pool, with JMSS competing at the Monash Division Swimming Competition on Wednesday 4 th  March against 4 other schools. We had an amazing day full of energy and success. JMSS walked away with the following achievements:

  • Senior Swimming Champion
  • Runners Up Intermediate Swimming Champion
  • Aggregate Swimming Champion

We also had some incredible individual achievements with the following students being awarded Monash Division Age Group Champions:

  • Female 16yr old Champion - Eliska Van Der Veen  JMSS
  • Female 17yr old Champion - Alexandra Isborn  JMSS

EMR Senior Boys Volleyball

We started the day feeling quite nervous but excited. In our first game against Ringwood, we came out strong in the first set, but unfortunately in the second set we lost momentum due to many reasons like service mistakes and unforced errors. This cost us the game and we were pretty devastated afterwards as we thought our chances of making finals were over because only 1 teamin the pool made it through. However, we reflected as a team and focused on not dwelling on the past. In our second game against Monbulk, we had a rocky start, losing the first set due to the mentality of the team. However, we never gave up, and showed resilience to complete a reverse sweep and take the game. Personally, I was very proud of my team and how we demonstrated that nothing can take us down and how good we are under pressure.

Going into our 3rd game against Highvale, we fully thought that we had been knocked out of the competition and decided to play with no pressure and just aimed to enjoy ourselves. As this was our easier game, we stayed dominant and pulled through with an easy win. Still we didn't think thiswas enough to make it through and honestly i started packing my bags to go home. But somehow, the other team that beat us lost one of their games which allowed us to move onto the grand finals as we were above them by 1 single set. Going into the finals, we were undermanned and extremely tired, with only 7 players in the whole team for the whole day. We faced a very formidable team in Rowville Sports Academy that had an international player and fell short of the win by a couple points. This gave us second for the day over the 8 different teams that won in their divisions so regardless of the result I am extremely proud of my team.

 Intermediate Girls Volleyball

The intermediate girls volleyball teams Both team A and B came runner up in the competition on Friday 20th March.

The B team won 3 and lost one, but it was a very close game.

The A team won 3 games and tied with the other top team.

It was so close Ms Porter had to crunch the numbers for percentage win for each game and in the end they only lost by 7%.

Both teams played extremely well together and displayed exemplary sportsmanship. Well done girls!

Year 10 Cricket

The Year 10 cricket team had an enjoyable day of cricket on Friday 20th March.

Three games in a single day, is an exhausting day of cricket, but I felt very proud of how you played and how you conducted yourselves.
