ALUMNI Update

ALUM Q&A | YEAR 11 OPTIMA DAY
On Optima Day recently, 2013 Alum Yunus Celik touched on some of the messages around Optima Semper (Best Always), Connection and Resilience that he delivered in his speech to the Year 11 cohort on their first day of the school year. Year Level Captains then had the opportunity to engage in some Q&A with Yunus during which he expanded on what helped him when he was struggling at school and who he went to for support. He also spoke about his career achievements and key skills he learnt at school that make him more resilient today.
ALUMNI CAREER PATHWAYS SESSION | LEGAL STUDIES
Just the other day, FHS alumni now working in the law in different fields spoke to Year 11 Legal Studies students. Natasha Ozolins-Stubbs (2006 alum) is a project and property lawyer working in compulsory acquisition, Callum Steele (2012 alum) is a lawyer working on merger and acquisition transactions and Liliana Dubroja (2008 alum) is a barrister specialising in criminal law. They all gave engaging presentations about what their work involves and how they came to follow their particular career paths and succeed in their current roles.
This was an incredibly beneficial session for students, with teachers relating many talking points to upcoming assessment tasks with students asking thoughtful questions of the guests.

About the Alumni Program
Frankston High School is continuing to grow its alumni program in partnership with Ourschool, a not-for-profit alumni program for state secondary schools and the first of its kind in Australia.
By connecting with the alumni program, past students can provide career guidance and work experience opportunities for current students, establish scholarships and bequests, or volunteer in lots of other ways.
Ourschool is working with Frankston High to help these things happen by growing the school’s alumni community and coordinating the involvement of alumni in the school.
