PRINCIPAL's Message

Dear Parents/Carers, Students and Friends
Reconciliation Week
We are recognising the importance of National Reconciliation Week (27 May to 3 June) which is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
There have been many moments in Australia’s reconciliation journey that make us want to turn away. But when things are divisive, the worst thing we can do is disengage or disconnect. National Reconciliation Week’s theme for 2025, Bridging Now to Next, is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people must continue. Thank you to Mr John Russell, supported by Mrs Jess Bambridge, Ms Leah Hannas, Mr Carolyn Florance, and Ms Kate Burgess for their efforts educating others on the importance of this.
2025 Japan Tour
On Tuesday 13 May we hosted an information evening for those students, alongside their families, whom are attending the upcoming 2025 Japan Tour in September. Thank you to Ms Wendy Goodman for her efforts organising the trip, well supported by our other staff who are participating in the trip: Mr Cam Heyes, Ms Yuka Mukiyama, and Mr Isaac Bakker.
Road Relay Event
We recently participated in the Victorian Road Relay event in Carlton on Saturday 3 May, and the Cross Country Relay event at Jells Park on Saturday 17 May. It was great to see our students competing against the top running schools in the state, and performing well with top 10 finishes for most of our teams. Thank you to Mrs Jodie Burton and Mr Mal Burt for their efforts coaching our students and taking them on the day.
Aerobics
On Saturday 17 May and Sunday 18 May, our Aerobics students participated in the Victorian Super Series event held in Rowville. Our students performed exceptionally well and have qualified for the upcoming State Finals. Thank you to Ms Gen Donovan for her efforts coaching and supporting our students, well supported by Mrs Cindy Bryant and Ms Tiffany Greenhill.
Year 12 Retreat
From 12 May to 14 May, we ran the Year 12 Retreat to Phillip Island to provide our Year 12 students with the opportunity to connect further with their peers and teachers as well as giving them an opportunity to reinvigorate for the rest of the year. The students participated in activities that strengthened their connection to their peers, teachers and the school community. Thank you to Ms Brittany Harvey, Ms Kate Burgess, Ms Kelly Mitchell and Ms Tiffany Greenhill for organising this opportunity for our students, supported by the many staff in attendance.
Year 8 Rubicon Camp
A group of Year 8 students returned recently from a fantastic week at Rubicon Outdoor Education camp, and it was clear the experience had a real impact. The camp was brilliantly led by Ms Paige Whitworth, with outstanding support from Mr Darin Joyce, Ms Emily Johnson, Ms Melody Westlake, Mr Anthony Cinege and Ms Carly McDonald. Students formed strong connections, stepped outside their comfort zones, and demonstrated what it means to live out our school pillars of Excellence, Aspiration and Community. The Rubicon staff were full of praise, sharing that this was one of the best groups they've ever worked with — a huge credit to both our students and the staff who supported them. A hugely successful camp that our students will remember for a long time.
World Education Support Day
Thank you to our ES staff for everything they do to make our school so great! Friday 16 May was World Education Support Personnel Day, a day for us to recognise the extraordinary contributions our ES team make in our school. We hosted a breakfast for our ES staff on Friday morning to recognise their contributions and thank them.
