4E

By Alana Essa

Another term, another wonderful learning journey with 4E! As we begin Term Four, we are excited to reconnect as a class, strengthen our relationships and continue building a positive and supportive classroom environment. These connections help ensure our learners feel safe, valued and ready to embrace the learning opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

Inquiry

In Inquiry, students have begun exploring the question, “How might we use physical science for sustainable design?” They have been investigating different areas of physical science, including energy, forces and motion, and identifying how these concepts are used in everyday life. Students are looking forward to applying their knowledge to explore sustainable design.

Some of their reflections include:

  • Abha: “I am looking forward to designing something in a sustainable way.”
  • Hayden: “I have learnt that gravity is a force that pulls things down.”
  • Ved: “I have learnt about the differences between energy, forces and motion, and where we see them around us.”

Literacy and Literature

In Literacy and Literature, students have begun exploring the text The Wild Robot. They have been sharing their predictions about the story and using clues to imagine what might happen to the main character. Some of their predictions include:

  • Eason: “A robot has to survive on a remote island on its own.”
  • Tanvi: “A person turns into a robot and tries to survive on her own.”

Throughout this unit, students will develop their vocabulary, explore the themes and events of the text, and use their ideas to plan and write persuasive texts.

Mathematics

In Mathematics, students have begun a unit on Data Investigation, building on their previous learning about data and location. They are exploring how data can be collected, organised and interpreted to answer questions and draw conclusions. Students have also been introduced to Likert scales as a way of gathering and representing opinions and responses.

Some of their reflections include:

  • Advika: “Data collection is important because you can learn more about a topic.”
  • Thidas: “I have learnt about Likert scales.”

We look forward to another exciting term filled with curiosity, collaboration and meaningful learning as 4E continues to grow and develop together!
