The past three weeks have been full of exciting learning experiences and wonderful incursions for our Finchiburras! It has been a busy and engaging time, with students continuing to build confidence, independence and enthusiasm across all learning areas.

In Literacy, we explored the letters j, w, v, y, h and l. As our Finchiburras continue to grow as confident learners, we have continued reading decodable readers to strengthen early reading skills. We have also been practising our comprehension strategies of visualising, predicting and retelling, helping students create meaning from texts and share their understanding. Our sentence journey continues as students unpack writing prompts and begin paying closer attention to using verbs and adjectives to add detail and make their writing more interesting and descriptive.

In Mathematics, we have been learning about mass, subtraction and ordinal numbers through hands-on and engaging activities. Students have been developing their understanding by comparing, measuring, solving problems and applying their knowledge in different contexts.

In Inquiry, we have completed the planning stage of our narratives and are now working hard on creating our final projects. Students have shown creativity, imagination and persistence throughout the process, and we cannot wait to share their amazing work with families next week.

We encourage families to enjoy reading the library books together at home and kindly ask that books are returned before the end of term.
We are already looking forward to celebrating 100 Days of Prep next term — it will be such a special milestone for our Finchiburras!
