Welcome back
Welcome back to all of our Donvale Primary School senior students and their families! We hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing and well-deserved break and has returned refreshed and ready for an exciting Term 3. There is already a wonderful buzz around the senior building as students have reconnected with friends and shared stories from the holidays as they have settled back into classroom routines.
Term 3 promises to be another busy and engaging one, with plenty of exciting learning opportunities, special events and activities across the school. Students will continue to challenge themselves, develop new skills and demonstrate our school values as they work towards achieving their personal best. We encourage all students to approach the term with curiosity, resilience and a positive attitude, making the most of every opportunity that comes their way. We look forward to celebrating the many achievements and memorable moments that Term 3 is sure to bring. Welcome back, and here's to another fantastic term at Donvale Primary School!
Hooptime
We are looking forward to an exciting day of basketball at Hooptime next Monday at the State Basketball Centre in Knox! All participating students will be placed into teams on the day, with team singlets distributed before the first games begin. Hooptime is a fantastic opportunity for students of all abilities to enjoy friendly competition, develop their basketball skills and represent Donvale Primary School while demonstrating great teamwork and sportsmanship. Families are warmly invited to come along and support our students throughout the day—we'd love to see plenty of DPS supporters in the stands cheering on our teams. We wish all of our students the very best and look forward to a fun-filled day on the courts!
Stock Market Challenge
Our Grade 5/6 students have enthusiastically launched into the DPS Stock Market, an engaging program designed to develop financial literacy through hands-on learning. Each student has been given a virtual investment portfolio and is making real-world decisions about buying and managing shares listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). As share prices change each week, students monitor their investments, analyse company performance and adjust their thinking, all while learning key financial concepts such as risk, return, diversification, opportunity cost and long-term investing. The program encourages students to apply mathematical skills in an authentic context while developing critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Most importantly, it helps build confidence with money management and provides students with valuable life skills that will benefit them well beyond the classroom.
