Principals' Message

Welcome back to Term 3!

We hope that all of our families enjoyed a lovely mid-year break, managing to stay warm and, hopefully, sneak in a few sleep-ins! In football, the 3rd quarter is known as the "premiership quarter" as this is where sides like to make their move. It is similar in schools, we are looking forward to a wonderful term ahead full of rich learning, developing friendships and exciting opportunities for our students. Importantly, the days will start to get longer and warmer as we move through the next couple of months!

With all of this, top of our engaging teaching and learning program, we are sure your dinner table conversations will be very full!

Please be sure to have a read over your child's year level newsletter for more specific information about what they will be learning about in Term 3.

Enrolments closing this Friday!

It is hard to believe but we are already looking ahead to welcoming our new preps of 2027! Enrolments close this Friday (31 July), so if you have not enrolled your child for next year, please do so by then. Likewise, if you know of someone else who still needs to complete an enrolment for their child, please encourage them to complete it by Friday. Shop Fronts

It was exciting this week to have our two new double-sided shop fronts installed in the Junior Adventure and Prep playgrounds. We could not have added these without your wonderful support with fundraising efforts, so thank you to every one of you who has contributed over the years. The designs (a post office, sushi bar, vet and ice cream shop) were voted on by our students. They are a lovely addition to our expansive grounds and we greatly look forward to the imaginative play many students will enjoy in these areas. Keep an eye out very soon for finishing touches to our gaga pit as well as other exciting improvements to our facilities.

NED Show

On Tuesday 28 July we have the NED show coming to our school. The main message is 

Never give up

Encourage others

Do your best.

There will be a whole school performance called NED's Resiliency Ride on this day, performing in the BER.

This is a free event for our students, however yoyos will be on sale to help fund this performance. 

There will be 2 NED zones, one on the junior school side and one on the senior side, so students can practice their yoyo skills after the show.

NAIDOC Week

Donvale Primary School proudly celebrated NAIDOC Week during our first week back of term. Teachers read stories by First Nations' authors and students engaged in rich conversation about Aboriginal life. 

The highlight of our celebration was a House Matters activity where students got together with their groups and read "Geigi the Stubborn Boy" about a boy who lives on an island and gets up to all sorts of mischief.

Community Spirit

We are very grateful for the grandparents of Elena who very kindly came to plant up our tan-barked area near the new ramp. They did this out of the kindness of their own hearts to make the area more beautiful for our students. We are so thankful - I'm sure you would agree, the space is starting to come together especially with their lovely additions.

Parent Survey

Please fill in the parent survey (one per family). Your responses will help us improve communication, events, and opportunities for family engagement at our school.

This is the same survey that was displayed at the parent teacher interviews. 

Congratulations to our Friday Run Club!

Well done to all of our students who walk or run laps of our school oval each Friday morning. The sense of community and joy amongst the students and parents each Friday is a joyous part of our school comunity. We are very proud of all of the students who have now, collectively, run over 1,000KM! To put that into context, that is about as far as the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. It is great to see so many of our young people being active and social together each week!
