Reflection for the Beginning of Advent
Advent is a season of hope, preparation, and expectation. As we light the first candle on the Advent wreath, we are reminded that we are waiting - not just for the celebration of Christmas, but for the coming of Christ into our hearts and into the world. In the midst of busy lives, Advent invites us to pause, reflect, and prepare our minds, hearts, and actions for God’s love to be renewed in us.
The first candle, often called the Prophecy Candle or Candle of Hope, symbolizes the hope that the prophets, and indeed all of humanity, have held for the coming of a Saviour. It reminds us that even in times of darkness or uncertainty, God’s light continues to shine. Advent encourages us to reflect on our own lives: How are we preparing for Christ’s presence? Are we opening our hearts to hope, love, and compassion for others?
This season also calls us to action. Our waiting is not passive; it is active hope. We are invited to grow in faith, practice kindness, and share the light of Christ with those around us. Each small act of love and hope brings us closer to the joy of Christ’s coming.
A Prayer for the Beginning of Advent
Loving God, as we begin this season of Advent, we open our hearts to your coming. Fill us with hope and joy as we wait for the gift of your Son, Jesus.
Help us to prepare our hearts, to live with patience and faith, and to share your love with those around us.
May this Advent be a time of reflection, renewal, and light, guiding us closer to you and to one another.
Amen.

Final Year 10 Celebrations
As we farewell our Year 10 students, we celebrate a year of remarkable achievements, personal growth, and shared memories that will stay with us for years to come. Their dedication and hard work, particularly evident in their outstanding exam results, reflect not only their commitment to learning but also the support and guidance of their teachers, families, and peers. Each student has contributed in their own unique way to the life of the College, leaving a legacy of resilience, curiosity, and community spirit.
We thank all those who have nurtured and supported our Year 10s along the way - parents, staff, and fellow students alike. As our graduates embark on the next chapter of their journey, we send them forward with our warmest wishes, confident that the skills, values, and memories they carry from Mount Carmel Catholic College will continue to guide and inspire them. May they embrace the future with courage, hope, and joy.
Uniform Changeover
A reminder to our families that from next year we will transition fully to the new sports uniform for all year groups except Year 10. As we make this shift, we ask that parents avoid purchasing the older uniform items second-hand, including the previous track pants and spray jacket, as these will no longer be part of the approved College uniform. Ensuring students are in the correct attire helps maintain consistency, pride and a sense of belonging across our community. If you require any support or clarification regarding the updated uniform, please contact the College office. Further information will come out towards the end of the year with any adjustments and will also be communicated with our students.
