Principal's Message

Mrs Kylie Bryant - Principal

It has been a wonderful and eventful fortnight here at Roselea, filled with community spirit and achievement.

School Band

A fantastic highlight was our Showcase for the Festival of the Bands, a combined event with Carlingford High School that truly demonstrated the strength and vibrancy of our community. The students’ performances were outstanding, and it was inspiring to see our schools come together in such a special way. Special shout out to our Band Committee for their hard work in making this event a huge success and a great fundraiser for the program.

Debating

Our Year 6 debating team delivered a strong performance, competing against Cherrybrook PS  as the negative team on the topic, ‘That primary school teachers should set a research project for every school holiday.’  The team presented thoughtful arguments however it was a tough topic and even tougher competition and in this instance we were not successful.

Special Achievement

Special congratulations to Elaine Z from Year 6 who is one of only two students who has ever achieved their Roselea Gold Badge. This is a wonderful achievement, receiving a total of 9 Principals Awards while attending Roselea PS. Well done Elaine!

Sport

The Winter PSSA season has wrapped up with our teams having a fun and enjoyable season. Congratulations to all the students for their sportsmanship, dedication, and team spirit throughout the competition. Our summer teams are now preparing for the second half of their season which starts again at the end of this week.

Last week Mrs Jones and Mrs Janssen took a team of talented athletes to the Zone Athletics Carnival at Sydney Olympic Park. The sun was shining, creating perfect conditions for the competition. Every athlete gave their absolute best, showed fantastic support for their fellow competitors, and represented their school with pride. Well done to everyone who participated.

Special mentions:

  • Illiana, who placed 1st in discus and shot put
  • Jude, 2nd in high jump and 3rd 200m
  • Leo, 2nd 100m
  • Izzy and Jake, both 4th in high jump
  • Samuel, Leo, and Ava, all 1st in their 800m heats, with Leo and Ava displaying an impressive sprint to the finish line.

P&C

The P&C have been supporting our school community with their monthly meeting and hosting a very busy Father’s Day Breakfast and Stall across a number of days. It was wonderful to see so many dads and male role models enjoy the breakfast and for every child to take home something special for their dad. Thank you to the P&C for hosting this event and all the work that went behind the scenes to make it such a huge success.

On Friday it was great to see so many community members, students and staff engage in Jersey Day. It is an important initiative that has begun important conversations about organ donation amongst the adults in our community. It is wonderful to see our school engaging in such significant awareness-raising efforts.
