This week, we welcomed Isla into 1/2LT. Isla is in Grade 2 and enjoys playing basketball, doing arts and crafts and being creative.

Over the past few weeks, we have had a focus on what it means to be rude vs mean vs a bully. Ms Melissa came in and spoke to our class helping us to come up with definitions and examples of rude, mean and bullying. We then put our knowledge to work solving playground problems and vaious scenarios. The children have enjoyed acting out scenarios and being problem solvers.

The Grade 1's have been busy learning the digraphs ew/ue, ar and or, along with the trigraph ore. They are enjoying the different activities that we have been doing during our literacy rotations. We will spend the next few weeks learning the ir/er/ur, eer/ear and air/are sounds.
Well done to all the students who have regularly been reading at home and returning their readers every Friday.

Last week we wrapped up our unit on Space. We have been investigating 2D shapes and 3D objects, learning lots about their features and how they are named. We also built our very own 3D objects and counted the faces, edges and vertices (corners). Here we are looking at the similarities and differences between 2D shapes and 3D objects.

This week we have been working on using bar models for addition & subtraction. Next week we will focus on multiplication and division, and we will finish the term learning all about location.
Last week the children designed their own robots, to help keep their rooms clean. They started by drawing their design and adding details to their drawing. Next, they constructed their robots. The next step is they are going to create maps of their rooms and give the robot instructions on how to clean it up.

Barry has had two very fun weekends. At Edith's house, he watched her play soccer, and scanned the groceries at Coles. Next, he went to Lincoln's house where he went for a day out jumping, bouncing and playing lazer tag at Gravity zone.
Frank had a lot of fun at Penny's house. He got to meet all her toys, and her brother, go for a scoot along the foreshore and stop for an ice cream. He spent the next weekend with Henry, where he got to watch Henry do his basketball training and meet his little brother.
Barry and Frank have really enjoyed their special visits. I wonder whose house they will visit next?
