Mathematics – Location and Position

In Mathematics, students are learning about location and position. We are exploring how grid maps can be used to locate and describe the position of places and objects accurately.

Students are practising how to read and interpret maps, use grid references, follow pathways, and give clear directions to move from one location to another. They are also developing their mathematical vocabulary by using directional and positional language to describe movement and location.

At home, you can support this learning by asking your child to give you directions to a familiar place, draw a simple map of your home or neighbourhood, or create a grid map and challenge someone to locate different objects.
