Cairns Running Festival
St Mary's is once again participating in the Cairns Running Festival on Sunday 12 July. Students, staff and community members of all running abilities are invited to join our College team and celebrate active living and community spirit as we walk, jog and run along our beautiful Cairns Esplanade. Off the back of winning largest participating school in 2025, we are hoping to show up in even bigger and better numbers this year and paint the town maroon and green! Reminder - Team Trials
Please find below an overview of the St Mary’s Catholic College representative team trials taking place over the next couple of weeks.
Representative Netball Trials
All students interested in representing the College at upcoming netball carnivals are required to attend trials at the start of Term 2.
Trial Details:
Senior Girls & QISSN Trials (Years 9-12)
Wednesday 22 April 3:30pm – 4:45pm
Boys (Yrs 7-12)
Monday 27 April 3:30pm – 4:30pm
Junior Girls
Wednesday 29 April 3:30pm – 4:45pm

All Schools Touch Football Trials
Trials for our All Schools Touch Football teams will be held on:
- Monday 20 April 3:45pm – 5:00pm
Monday 27 April 3:45pm – 5:00pm.
Two teams will be selected to represent the College at the FNQ All Schools Carnival in Townsville:
- Open Mixed Team
Junior Mixed Team.
Our Open Mixed Team will also travel to the Gold Coast in Term 4 to compete in the Gold Coast Titans QLD All Schools Touch Football Carnival.

AFL Queensland Schools Cup
St Mary's Catholic College will enter four teams into the StreetSmarts AFL Queensland Schools Cup competition again this year.
- Year 9/10 Girls and Boys
Year 11/12 Girls and Boys.
Training schedule:
- Wednesdays (lunchtime) - commencing Week 1, Term 2
- Mondays (after school) - commencing Week 2.
