Catholic Education Week Mass- St Patrick’s Cathedral

On Friday 21st March, the School Captains and Vice Captains, along with myself, and staff and captains from St Gabriel’s and St Raphael’s Primary school, attended the Catholic Education Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral, East Melbourne.

It was a beautiful celebration, with schools from across the Arch Dioceses gathering to celebrate Catholic Education.  During the mass, we were fortunate to witness the blessing of the new icon of St Patrick that is now hung in the Cathedral.  The iconographer, Sue Orchison was present with her family to witness the blessing and unveiling.  The icon depicts St Patrick in green and white, decorated with Celtic crosses and symbols, holding St Patrick’s Cathedral in his hand.  It is a rare and special commissioning that our students witnessed.

Stations of the Cross

Over the past few weeks, students and teachers have taken a deep dive into the Stations of the Cross, unpacking Scripture, exploring character’s feelings, actions and words, researching the historical context and create beautiful Stations for the community to visit, pray at and reflect on.  The Stations will be hung until the end of term.  In case you can’t make it, I have included photos for you to view.
