MLA

This week, the MLA students took a step back in time during an engaging incursion about the First Australians and the First Fleet. They participated in hands-on activities such as creating convict love tokens, playing traditional Aboriginal games like knucklebones, and making Australian animals from clay. Students also dressed up as First Australians, convicts, soldiers, and even Captain Arthur Phillip, bringing history to life. It was a fantastic experience that deepened their understanding of Australia’s past in a fun and interactive way!
Here are some of the students' favourite moments of the incursion:
"I have learnt that Aboriginal People played 'naughts and crosses' different to the way we play now. I also learnt that Captain Arther Phillip said to the guards, to pull their pants down six times! because the Aboriginal people did not know if they were girls or boys. My favourite part of the incursion is when everyone got to dress up." Lily S.
"At the incursion, there were two people named Barry and Cinda, they were teaching us about Australia's past. Instead of just talking while using a powerpoint they got some of us to dress up.
After that we learnt a game which was similar to Tic Tac Toe called "Ngykaa Ngykaa". We also made love tokens, clay animals and mashed up seasonings." Kyson D
