Year 9 Melbourne Experience
After an eventful year, Year 9 embarked on an adventure to Melbourne. Boarding the bus with uncertainty swirling in their minds—questions about directions, accommodations, finances, and more—the students set off. Arriving in Melbourne, we stowed our bags, experienced our first tram ride, and explored music at the Arts Centre before a late night of dinner and movies left us exhausted yet fulfilled.
The following morning, a hearty breakfast powered us through foggy streets. Our plans to visit Skydeck were delayed, leading to a day of budget-conscious shopping at Melbourne Central and an engaging Urban Quest challenge. Skydeck presented height challenges, met in various ways by students and adults, followed by a realization of Melbourne's living costs during dinner.
Wednesday offered a sleep-in before our visit to ARTVO in drizzling weather, where ice skating proved a thrilling challenge for many, resulting in minor injuries but overall success. International cuisines filled our dinner choices, while some students retired early due to fatigue, while the rest explored Christmas lights by the river.
The trip back home was peaceful with content, exhausted students. Grateful for the support of Nathan, Liz, Sam, and Cha, this Melbourne experience was truly unforgettable. - Tanya McLachlan (9 YLC)
