Entries are now open for the 2026 Pony Club Victoria Tetrathlon State Championships, set to take place on Sunday 29 March 2026. This exciting and challenging event will be hosted at the Dandenong Ranges Horse & Pony Club at Lloyd Park, Belgrave South, in partnership with the Southern Metropolitan Zone.
The State Championships will bring together riders from across Victoria to compete in one of Pony Clubâs most unique and demanding disciplines - Tetrathlon!
What is Tetrathlon?
Tetrathlon is a four-phase competition that tests both riding ability and overall athleticism. Competitors take part in:
- Riding
- Running
- Swimming
- Laser shooting
Originally developed by Pony Club in Great Britain, Tetrathlon has become a popular discipline worldwide and is featured at the Pony Club Australia National Championships. The sport is designed to encourage well-rounded athletes by combining horsemanship with other physical skills and challenges.
Each phase earns competitors points based on their performance, and the overall winner is determined by the highest combined score across all four phases.
Tetrathlon also offers exciting international representation opportunities for Pony Club Australia members and provides a pathway toward the Olympic sport of Modern Pentathlon.
Competition Classes
The 2026 Championships will feature a range of classes to allow riders of different ages and experience levels to participate.
State Championship Classes

- Junior
- Sub-Junior
Competitors in these classes must be graded riders and meet the C Certificate requirements as outlined in Pony Club Victoria By-Laws.
