Principal News

Congratulations to our swimmers who competed at Division Level on Wednesday. Once again I have received feedback from other schools on your enthusiastic participation and your outstanding behaviour displayed on the day. We are very proud of you all!
Front Gate on Wattletree Road
We have been experiencing an increase in families entering or exiting via the gate on Wattletree rod and leaving it open between 9:00am and 3:30pm. Whilst we are constantly patrolling to ensure it is shut using the child proof latch at the top, we need your support to keep this gate closed for the safety of all students and even toddlers who may have wandered away from their carer. Please shut the gate using the child proof latch whenever you enter or exit during school learning hours.
Friendly reminder about Right to Disconnect
On Monday 26 August 2024, an amendment to the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Closing Loopholes) Act 2023 came into effect. This is known as The Right to Disconnect. The new provisions were adopted alongside the Department’s existing industrial and employment obligations, including occupational health and safety commitments. This means that we continue to support our staff to exercise their right to monitor and respond to emails only on weekdays and between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm.
Staff toilet upgrade
This week we were given access to stage one of the staff toilet upgrade. This means that the staff and adult toilets in the office block are open for use. There are still some small finishing touches to come but they are available for use by adults. This also means that everyone can return to accessing the office via the corridor near the Science room. Thank you for your cooperation whilst access to the office was pesty. Stage two of the upgrade has commenced, and you will notice the area has been boarded up. There will be less disruption to movement flow through the school. There is still access through the hallway between the atrium and access to the exit ramp. We are looking forward to the completion of the works, and all works are expected to be completed by the end of term 1.
School Council 2026
Thank you to those who have nominated to be on school Council in 2026. We were not required to run an election this year as we did not have more nominations than there were vacancies. We still have a vacancy if you were thinking about joining but thought you were too late. Please email me or call to chat about if you are interested. Our first meeting for our new Council will be held on Thursday March 19th @ 7:00pm in the staffroom. Meetings moving forward will be online to support members to participate from home.
Shelter In Place Works on the BER
Works on the Shelter in Place Building are due to be completed this Friday. We then need to await approval of the works, and this will then become our official site for this in our Emergency Management Plan. As soon as this is approved, we will conduct a practice drill in the new space so that all students and staff are familiar with the new procedure.
Year 6 Camp
On Tuesday our year 6 students depart for their camp to Phillip Island Adventure Resort for four days of beachside activities. This is a fantastic camp, and we know the students will enjoy it very much. As the photos come in from camp teachers we will post them on our Facebook page.
Harmony Week
Harmony Week is Monday, 16 March to Sunday 22 March. We will be celebrating the week on Wednesday 18th at school by inviting students to wear some Orange which is the colour for Harmony Day. They may choose to be dressed in all orange or wear a touch of orange.
Our Wellbeing Leaders will help to run some activities during this week at lunchtime and students will learn about the importance of this celebration.
