Sports Day 2026 was a remarkable showcase of energy, teamwork and House pride at Aberfoyle Park High School. The atmosphere on the day was electric, with students, staff and families coming together to celebrate our vibrant school spirit.
The oval buzzed with activity, as students competed in an impressive range of events, including five-a-side soccer, volleyball, shot put, vortex throwing, cross-country, high jump, and the ever-popular tug of war. The highlight for many was the spirited year 12 students versus teacher's tug of war, with the staff team securing a memorable victory.
Relay races kept the excitement going near the end of the day. The student relay teams impressed everyone with their determination and teamwork, and the staff relay proved a crowd favourite, especially with Mr Franchetto’s showboating finish that had everyone cheering.
The competition between Houses was especially fierce this year. Karla and Yarlu were neck and neck all day, trading the lead during several key events. Ultimately, Karla prevailed by the smallest of margins, with only 16 points separating them from Yarlu, an outstanding achievement demonstrating excellent participation and House spirit.
Final House results:
- 1st place: Karla – 679 points
- 2nd place: Yarlu – 663 points
- 3rd place: Yarta – 636 points
4th place: Tirntu – 513 points
Congratulations to every student who participated, whether you competed, supported your School House or cheered on your friends, you contributed to a fantastic community event.
Thank you to our dedicated staff who managed events, encouraged students, and ensured the day ran smoothly, with special mention to those who arrived early for set up and stayed late to pack away.
Sports Day continues to be a highlight of the school calendar, and it was wonderful to see so many students striving for their best and having fun. We hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did, and we encourage everyone to look out for more photos and stories on our school social media pages next week.
Let’s keep this amazing School House spirit going all year. We look forward to an even bigger and better Sports Day in 2027!

Sports Day BBQ and Bake Sale: record success
Thank you to everyone who supported our Sports Day BBQ and Bake Sale on Friday, 13 March. We would like to announce that this year’s event raised a record profit of $1,711.05 after expenses.
Special thanks go to those who baked goods or donated items for the bake sale, as well as to the dedicated students who cooked at the BBQ and helped manage the stall. Your collective effort and generosity made the day a true success.
All funds raised will be invested in two beautiful new wooden bench seats and tables, which will be installed in the cultural garden being developed by the Learning4Life class in term 2.
Your support has made a lasting contribution to our school community. Thank you.
