Michelle Payne Visits Loreto College

Our Year 9 students were treated to a visit from Michelle Payne together with the solid gold, Melbourne Cup.

Celebrating the 10 year anniversary of her historical Melbourne Cup win, Michelle held a Q&A with the students, reflecting on her courageous win, overcoming significant injuries and gender discrimination in a male-dominated industry.

She spoke about maintaining confidence, pursuing your dreams and not ever giving up.

Please check your laptop electrical cords for potential fire hazards!

Parents and students are advised that laptop electrical cords have been identified as a potential safety hazard - causing electrical shocks, electrical damage, and potential for fire. Check for any damages and frayed cables and report to ICT ASAP.

Please take the following precautions:

• Inspect electrical cords e.g., laptop cords before use.
• Do not use cords that are frayed, damaged or have exposed wires.
• Report any damaged cords to the ICT department immediately - regular wear and tear is generally covered under warranty.
