Lower Secondary Years

As we come to the conclusion of the school year, the staff of Banksia Learning Place would like to extend our sincere thanks to families for your ongoing partnership and support. The end of the year has been a time of celebration, reflection, and pride as we acknowledge the achievements of our students.

Throughout the year, students have worked collaboratively with staff and peers to work towards and achieve their individual learning goals. The progress demonstrated across Banksia Learning Place reflects students’ commitment to learning, their developing independence, and their resilience in engaging with new challenges. We are extremely proud of the growth shown by every learner.

As part of our Integrated Unit, “Toys and Games,” students explored toys and games used in the past and compared these with those they enjoy today. Students engaged in hands-on learning by creating simple games and activities from earlier times, including the cup and ball, and shared their opinions on historical games and activities. This learning supported curiosity, creativity, and rich discussions about how play has evolved over time.

In English, students participated in learning focused on Persuasive Texts, working together to develop an understanding of how opinions can be expressed and supported. This learning strengthened students’ communication skills and confidence in sharing their ideas with others.

In Mathematics, students applied their number knowledge through purposeful learning about Australian currency. They developed skills in identifying Australian notes and coins, using currency to support counting on and skip counting, and participating in simple financial transactions. Students also explored measurement, using both formal and informal units to measure length, height, and capacity through practical, hands-on experiences.

As we look ahead, we celebrate the students of Banksia Learning Place 2025 and warmly farewell those who will be transitioning to different learning places or school settings. We are immensely proud of each student’s achievements and wish them every success as they continue their learning journey.

We acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of all students and look forward to continuing our strong partnership with families as we work together to support student learning and wellbeing in Banksia Learning Place 2026.
