Macleod College Music Academy have a long tradition of producing fine musicians who have gone on to pursue their interests. The Dux of Macleod 2024, Liam Walker is currently at Monash University studying a double Degree in Arts and Science. Liam’s subjects this semester are philosophy, literature, earth science and maths. Although not studying music, Liam plays cello in the Monash Baroque Ensemble.

 

Their concert last month featured  ‘Bach’s 5th Brandenburg Concerto’ and ‘Corelli’s Concerto Grosso op6 no 8’. Liam says, that “both pieces were fun, but the Bach was by far my favourite, you can listen to a recording of our performance here if you are interested”

Tony Yang, graduated 2023 and has spent the year performing around Melbourne as part of the Melbourne Youth Jazz Orchestra and working towards his audition. Tony is currently in New York City in preparation for auditioning for the Julliard School of Music, we wish him the best of luck. 

 

On Tuesday 26, the Senior Band performed ‘Master Blaster (Jammin)’ by Stevie Wonder at the 2025 Year 7 Information Evening. This ensemble features students from Year 7-12. This ensemble is looking at touring Phillip Island again in 2025 as well as participating in the Generations In Jazz Festival.
