IELC Excursion Shrine of Remembrance & the National Museum

Something that I would like to share is the soldier shout marching orders to the infantry.

I was reminded of a WWI picture book titled ‘One minute silence’ because it shows how terrible and horrible war is.

At the NGV, I enjoyed the Japanese art.

Something I would like to share is the Australian flags were lowered.

Something I found fascinating is the heat from the eternal flame fire.

At the NGV, I was excited when I saw the stained glass ceiling.

I was excited when the cannon was fired.

One thing I learnt is the Sanctuary looks like a grave with the words ‘Greater Love Hath No Man’.

At the NGV, I found the room with the hanging pictures interesting.

I was excited when the band played Waltzing Matilda and the soldiers were marching.

I was reminded of a WWI picture book titled ‘Simpson and his donkey’ because I saw a statue in the garden of the Shrine of Remembrance.

At the NGV, I connected with a piece titled ‘Rough weather at Etretat’ by Claude Monet because it shows the sea side on the coast of France in Normandy.

Something I would like to share is the release of the birds at the Remembrance Day service. It was magnificent.

I saw a panorama view of the city and saw the William Barak building with the Aboriginal chief’s face.

I was excited when I saw the very famous Picasso painting. It was amazing. It is a vivid image.

Something that got everyone’s attention is the parade, which is an important event on Remembrance Day.

I was reminded of a WWI picture book titled ‘The Anzac Tree’ because it shows the Anzac day anniversary on the 25th of April and how Australia remembers the Anzacs with special ceremonies.

At the NGV, I was excited to see a Pablo Picasso painting.

Something I would like to share is when the soldiers marched in the parade, the band played Waltzing Matilda.

I was reminded of a WWI picture book titled ‘The Red Poppy’ because it tells us what the poppy means for Remembrance Day.

At the NGV, I connected with a piece of art  titled ‘Vetheuil’ by Claude Monet because the bold colours in this painting gives people the feeling of being in a fairy tale.

I was moved when people put the wreath on the stairs of the Shrine and everyone was showing respect with one minute of silence.

I was reminded of the WWI picture book titled ‘Simpson and his donkey’ because I saw a statue of him carrying patients.

I connected with the painting titled Queen Esther, because she was the queen of Persia but her face looks sad.. I am curious to know why she looks so worried.

I was so excited when I heard the cannon fire. It was like in war. I feel peace when we were in one minute silence.

I saw the Shrine of Remembrance is like the pyramid of ancient Egypt.

At the NGV I connected with a painting titled ‘Horses bathing in the sea’ by Lucy E Kemp Welch. Because seeing this painting, I felt free. I saw the horses playing happily by the sea and I remembered playing in the sea, six years ago.

Something I would like to share is the bugle playing and the colourful wreaths.

We should feel pride and we should remember ‘Lest we forget’.

Something I would like to share is a painting called ‘The Rescue’, by John Everett Millais. The fire is very horrible but the fire fighters are very brave.

We went to the Remembrance Day commemoration service and we watched the parade.

One thing I learnt is the peace that now exists in Australia is the result of countless young lives lost.

One thing I found interesting at the NGV is the China art. I also saw some contemporary art called ‘Apple’. It was interesting.

I was excited with the roar of the jet planes flying above.

The Shrine remembers people who died because of war.

At the NGV, I like the red room with the many, many paintings.
