Primary Bulletin
With only four weeks until the end of the school year, there is a lot happening in the Primary area. Staff are busy ensuring their students are wrapping up units of work and assessing their progress. It is often the most rewarding time of year for teachers as we reflect on the progress that our students have made over the year.
We will have some changes to the Primary team next year.
We welcome Anu Tillekeratne - full time, Lisa Benetti - Monday - Wednesday and Damiano Lo Nigro – full time. We will launch the new Auslan program, which will be taken by Chris Floyd. Chris will also be sharing a class with Lisa Benetti on Thursday and Friday.
As you know, Anna Collins left us earlier last term to take on an education role for Fire Rescue Victoria and she will continue in this role next year. Talina Ellis will be leaving us to join the team at Greensborough Primary School and Cathy Liparota will be moving over to the secondary area to work with the Year 7 and 8 Maths team.
The Year 6 students will be doing their Year 7 Orientation on Tuesday 10th December. On this day, the Prep – Year 5 students will find out their classes for 2025 and spend some time with their new teachers.
In preparation for next year, you should have received your children’s book lists. These are due online by Monday 9th December. We recommend that you order the textbooks, in particular, from North of the Yarra bookshop. Stationery items can be ordered from there or wherever you choose. Just remember to take the list with you when you are shopping so that you are purchasing the correct books. The exercise books need to be the correct rule (dotted thirds) for your child’s level. If you happen to buy the wrong books, we will be requesting that you buy the correct ones for your child.
Year 5 and 6 students will be required to bring their own devices for use at school. Please refer to the recommended devices on the school website or you can email Simone our ICT leader for advice.
It was great to celebrate the students’ learning through the Market Day event last Friday. The children have put in many weeks of hard work, as they planned their businesses, advertised their products, produced their items and set up their stalls. They proudly presented their wares and interacted courteously with their customers. Thank you to Ms Nguyen and Ms Liparota for their hard work and providing such an engaging unit of learning for the children. Funds raised by this event will be used to purchase equipment for the Primary area.
