Anchorage House News

Dear Anchorage House Families
As we wind down into the Christmas break, it is the end of an era for now, here at Anchorage House. Reflecting on the year, I am constantly amazed by how much our boys have grown and developed, both individually and as a community.
Before the flow of boys heading home began, I had the opportunity to address the group one final time. I asked Leo Cunningham to speak about the two core values we hold dear in this house: trust and respect. His confident explanation of the paper analogy—that trust, once broken, is difficult to mend—was both heartfelt and insightful. It was a reminder of how deeply these values resonate with our boys. Throughout the year, I have been proud to see these principles play out in their friendships and group dynamics, strengthening the foundation of our boarding community.
Anchorage House has always been known for its energy and spirit, and this year was no exception. Together, we have created an environment full of vitality while balancing it with routines that bring structure and harmony to residential life. This is a testament to the dedication of our boarding supervisors and the commitment of our boys to living out the values we hold ourselves to.
As we prepare to say goodbye to the house that has been the heart of junior boys’ boarding at GSG, there is a sense of bittersweet pride. We leave behind not just a building, but countless memories and milestones. Yet, there is also a genuine excitement for the new chapter ahead as we commence our Junior Boarding Co-Ed Seven-Eight and our boys move into a fresh, vibrant space in Endeavour House.
As the festive season begins, we say goodbye to our boarders for the Christmas break. On behalf of all the Anchorage House staff who have cared for and supported your child this year, I wish you a joyous holiday filled with family, friends, and meaningful moments. Stay safe, treasure the time together, and celebrate the achievements of this incredible year.
