Bluff Road Leaders
Our junior campus student leaders have taken greater ownership of year level assemblies, playing a key role in planning and delivering important parts of each one. This provides students with valuable opportunities to develop their leadership and communication skills, including preparing speeches, creating presentation slides and organising the details that contribute to a successful assembly. Students are also developing confidence in public speaking by practising how to project their voices, engage their audience and communicate key messages clearly to their peers. Through these experiences, our student leaders are building practical skills and confidence that will support them both at school and beyond.
Year 8 students Mila Muscat, Callan Bylsma and Carol Patel also had the opportunity to put their communication and leadership skills into practice at School Council. They shared highlights from the year so far, reflected on the impact of classroom routines, celebrated the success of student fundraising and presented ideas for future student-led initiatives. Students spoke positively about the way routines such as a calm start to lessons, silent entry and the ‘Do Now’ provide greater structure and help lessons begin in a settled and focused way. They also shared thoughtful feedback about how these routines could be strengthened further. Their feedback provides valuable insight into the student experience, and there is great enthusiasm to see some of their ideas and suggestions put into action in the weeks ahead.

R U OK? Day
Our student leaders have also taken the initiative to organise an Out of Uniform Day, taking responsibility for promoting the event and building excitement across the school community. As part of this process, students drafted and shared a COMPASS communication to inform their peers and encourage participation (see below).

We have started the process of selecting our 2027 student leaders. Below is the draft version of the timeline. Students should watch out for COMPASS posts for more information regarding application and selection.

T3W9 – Panel interviews for Y12 Student Captains
T4W1 – Shortlisted candidates present speeches and students vote.
T4W2 – Y12 Student Captains announced
