Year 11 Examinations: A Time to Consolidate, Review and Move Forward

The Year 11 Final Examination Block will begin in Week 6 on Wednesday 26 August and conclude in Week 8 on Wednesday 9 September. All examinations will be timed written examinations.

These examinations are an important milestone for our soon-to-be Year 12 cohort. They offer students a valuable opportunity to consolidate their knowledge, skills and understanding, while strengthening their examination technique in a lower-stakes setting before HSC assessments begin in Term 4. We strongly encourage our Year 11 boys to engage fully in this process by recognising their strengths and addressing areas for improvement as they prepare for the next stage of senior study.

With pre-task information and the Examination Timetable distributed this week, students should now understand what will be examined, when each examination will occur and how best to prepare. Any student who remains unsure should speak with their class teacher or the relevant Head of Department for further guidance.

Students are encouraged to begin by reflecting on the feedback they have received throughout the year. Previous assessment tasks, classwork and teacher guidance can help them identify strengths, address recurring areas for improvement and apply feedback in an examination context. Engaging actively in this process will support deeper understanding, stronger examination technique and meaningful growth in the weeks ahead.
