History Week

In Week 8, Wyndham College participated in History Week. Students had the opportunity to step back in time and explore different periods of history through a range of fun, creative and challenging activities. 

Monday kicked off the week with historical fiction and history quizzes. Students tested their knowledge of the past while exploring stories inspired by historical events and people. On Tuesday, students travelled all the way to Ancient Egypt with amulet making. Students learned about the meaning and purpose of Egyptian amulets while designing and creating their own. Wednesday continued our Ancient Egyptian theme with painting of the amulets. Students brought their creations to life with colour while learning more about the symbols and beliefs of Ancient Egyptian society. On Thursday, competition ran deep with our Mummification Competition! Students put their historical knowledge and teamwork to the test as they took on the challenge of recreating the ancient Egyptian mummification process (no organs were harmed in this process!). Finally, Friday brought History Week to an exciting end with an Ancient Mythology Kahoot. Students competed to see who could remember the most about the fascinating myths, gods and legends of the ancient world.

Throughout the week, there were also plenty of activities for students to enjoy during lunch time. Students took part in History themed colouring in, puzzles, "Guess Who", card games and LEGO building, as well as mini archaeological excavations, where they could experience what it might be like to uncover clues from the past. 

History Week was a fantastic opportunity for students to learn beyond the textbook, get creative, work together and have fun while discovering the fascinating world of the past. A big thank you to Gina and everyone who participated and helped make the week such a memorable success...and one for the history books!
